It is with excitement that I am writing to you today as on Monday, I celebrated my first month working as an Intern at Northeastern! And as some of you might have seen on other social media, I am a true believer of following dreams, and I would encourage everyone reading this post to follow their dreams.
In the past two weeks, I have seen an increase of my work load, I have been able to use my creativity towards the creation of several reports, organizing a student event in September, and increasing my knowledge on several countries and global employers research techniques.
Over the past couple of weeks I believe that I am becoming more confident in my work as more responsibilities are given to me.
This can include anything from contacting students to invite them to a fair, to contact employers and create documents for them. The event I am working on entails students to give time to fellow students explaining why they chose to do a Global Co-op rather than a domestic Co-op. I have been creating online attendance forms, which was a first for me, but really enjoyed learning the processes so that in the future I can do that without any difficulties. Over the past few weeks I have been given some specific task regarding some employers outreach research in several regions of the world. After being given those reports to do, I have been creating a template that I have been following for other countries, adapting it to specific needs of my colleagues .
I feel really happy with my progress so far, however the beginning of this week has been challenging as I have been assigned a new temporary role in the office. I have been covering the front desk of Stearns. This entail, answering the phone, students, employers, staff facing on a almost daily basis and general mailbox inquiries.
I was happy to witness a mutual collaboration between the employees of my department but also between the different department of the university. I was glad to see that people are not taking things for granted and are always working towards a common goal, or a personal goal they have established. It is good to know that this type of help still exists.
I do not have anything as exciting planned for the coming weeks, however I will be moving flats in a couple of weeks, and that is a stressful process. It is not as easy to find a place in Boston as it is in Glasgow.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog of my time working in Boston.
I will be back really soon with more to share.
See you soon
Alexandra
